¿ì²¥³ÉÈËÍø

Dr. Carpenter serves as the President of North Florida and is a member of ¿ì²¥³ÉÈËÍø Executive Cabinet, reporting to the enterprise Chief Operating Officer. Based in Jacksonville, Florida, he joined ¿ì²¥³ÉÈËÍø in 2016.

Most recently, he served as Senior Vice President, Chief Nursing and Patient Operations Officer for the Delaware Valley. Following a national search, he was promoted to President of North Florida in February 2025, recognized for his exceptional leadership and nearly a decade of service at ¿ì²¥³ÉÈËÍø Children’s. In this role, he applies his clinical expertise and passion for excellence to meet the needs of North Florida communities, ensuring patients receive the highest quality care.

Dr. Carpenter has an extensive clinical background, having worked as a registered nurse in adult cardiac critical care and both general and academic pediatric emergency nursing. As a pediatric nurse practitioner, he has practiced in primary care and pediatric emergency medicine for over 20 years. He is board-certified in pediatrics through the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board.

His primary academic interest lies in building confidence and competence in novice advanced practice providers. He is the founder and director of the ¿ì²¥³ÉÈËÍø Pediatric Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Fellowship, the first of its kind in a free-standing children's hospital.

During his tenure at ¿ì²¥³ÉÈËÍø, he led the restructuring and expansion of advanced practice leadership. He also played a key role in developing a professional advancement program for advanced practice providers and establishing the ¿ì²¥³ÉÈËÍø Center for Advanced Practice.

He holds a bachelor's degree from Sacred Heart University, a master's degree from Yale University, an MDiv from Trinity School for Ministry and a DNP from Robert Morris University. Dr. Carpenter is passionate about developing leaders in children’s health and connecting clinicians with opportunities to advance in their careers.
